Obituary

Dennis James Riedlinger passed away on February 5, 2022 due to cancer. He was born on December 7, 1950 in New Orleans to Bertrand and Dorothy Riedlinger (nee Oubre)

He graduated from the University of New Orleans with a BA in Biology and started his career with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and proudly worked for Dow Chemical Company for 35 years. He and his wife of 44 years ran Bull Sprig Farms and dedicated countless hours to their son, Robin’s, scout troop. He loved and worked on the Fess Gator Krewe at Jazz Fest every year since it started and loves his Fess Family. He was a Jazz Fest pioneer.

Dennis was a curious person who never met a stranger. He was a talented artist, hunter, fisherman, and cook. He always had a hunger for knowledge.

Dennis loved a good meal and was always great fun at a party. He lived and worked hard and often commented that “it is hard work having fun.” He was never bored.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; his son, Robin; daughter-in-law, Lauren Burk; most beloved granddaughter, Raven Riedlinger; sister, Mrs. Jane Major; brother, Judge Stephen Riedlinger; and aunts, Audrey Flynn and Millie Davis. He is also survived by five-brothers in law, Brian, Mark, Kent, Jay, and Todd Marcel. He is also survived by four-sisters in law, Lynn, Stacey, Jeanne, Kathleen, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Many thanks to New Orleans Notre Dame Hospice Care.

A private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Jazz and Heritage Foundation, The National Wildlife Foundation, or The National Audubon Society.
