Dennis was my brother-in-law and over the years we shared lots of family events. My family loved Bull Sprig Farms. According to Dennis, I was not allowed to enter the property without a pan of lasagna, but I’m sure he told everyone the same thing because he loved everything that was brought to the table! Dennis made roasting a pig down to a science. It was a group effort and a labor of love!
I always looked forward to going to Barn 11 at the fairgrounds during the Jazz Fest to check in on Dennis. He didn’t fail to offer a cold drink and a place to sit for a while to visit. He also had excellent recommendations for which food items we needed to try. One time Dennis took me for a ride in his golf cart so we could listen to Tony Bennett close the day. It was wonderful!
For many years, we hosted Dennis, Susan, Robin, Granny Dot, Jane and John at our home for Christmas Eve dinner. We exchanged gifts and made a long night of it. I cherish those times together.
The farm and Jazz Fest will not be the same without Dennis, but I know he’ll be there in spirit to make sure that we all still have fun, enjoy each other. He was taken from us too soon, but he lived life to the fullest extent. I will miss him.
